Guidelines for submitting manuscripts to JAMH

Manuscript Preparation

All manuscripts must be prepared according to APA 7th Edition formatting guidelines.

General Requirements

  • Language: English (US or UK spelling, but be consistent)
  • File Format: Submit as PDF or Word (.docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12pt
  • Line Spacing: Double-spaced throughout
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
  • Page Numbers: Number all pages in the top right corner

Manuscript Structure

  1. Title Page - Include title, author names, affiliations, and corresponding author contact
  2. Abstract - 150-250 words summarizing the study
  3. Keywords - 4-6 keywords for indexing
  4. Introduction - Background and research objectives
  5. Methods - Detailed methodology
  6. Results - Findings with tables/figures
  7. Discussion - Interpretation and implications
  8. References - APA 7th edition format
  9. Appendices - If applicable

Article Types

Original Research Articles

  • Word limit: 5,000-8,000 words (excluding references)
  • Report original empirical research
  • Include all standard sections (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion)

Review Articles

  • Word limit: 6,000-10,000 words
  • Comprehensive overview of research on a specific topic
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses welcomed

Case Studies

  • Word limit: 2,000-4,000 words
  • Detailed examination of individual cases
  • Must include informed consent documentation

Short Communications

  • Word limit: 1,500-2,500 words
  • Brief reports of preliminary or pilot studies

Ethical Requirements

⚠️ Important

All research involving human participants must have ethical approval from an appropriate institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee.

  • Informed consent must be obtained from all participants
  • Confidentiality and anonymity must be maintained
  • Declare any conflicts of interest
  • Disclose funding sources
  • Upload the ethics letter in PDF format

Citations and References

Use APA 7th Edition style for all citations and references.

In-text Citations

  • Single author: (Smith, 2023)
  • Two authors: (Smith & Jones, 2023)
  • Three or more authors: (Smith et al., 2023)
  • Direct quote: (Smith, 2023, p. 15)

Reference List Format

  • Alphabetize by first author's surname
  • Use hanging indent (0.5 inch)
  • Include DOI when available

Submission Process

  1. Prepare your manuscript according to these guidelines
  2. Gather required documents: manuscript, cover letter, ethics approval
  3. Submit online via our submission portal
  4. Receive confirmation with your unique Submission ID
  5. Track your submission using the tracking system

Review Process

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review:

  1. Initial Screening - Editor checks for scope and quality (1-2 weeks)
  2. Peer Review - Sent to 2-3 expert reviewers (4-8 weeks)
  3. Decision - Accept, revise, or reject (1-2 weeks after reviews)
  4. Revision - If required, authors submit revised manuscript
  5. Final Decision - Accept for publication or reject
  6. Publication - Published in next available issue
